Nearly 1,700 customers in parts of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are without power this morning in an area from Stanford University about 10 miles south to the Portola Redwoods State Park, PG&E reported.
The power failure started at about 8:47 a.m., affecting 1,671 ratepayers in sections of Menlo Park and Portola Valley in San Mateo County and Palo Alto and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County according to PG&E.
Power is expected to be back on by about 11:45 a.m., PG&E said.
The utility has crews working on the shut down and the cause of it is still being determined, PG&E reported.
