PHOTOS: Lights! Caroling! Movies!

Los Altos Hills Family and the recreation department hosted a movie night, a lighting of the heritage oak tree, and a hearty round of caroling Saturday.

Oh, who really knows all the verses to those favorite Christmas carols?

That's why Scott Vanderlip brings the songbooks, some with all the songs, some with only some of the songs, to the annual caroling event. This year it joined with the Los Altos Hills Families Holiday Tree Lighting and Movie Night.

Inside Town Hall, party-goers fortified themselves with Swiss Miss and hot cider, and thick shortbread cookies. In the Council Chambers, sleeping bags and animal pillows were the order of the night, as families prepared to watch "A Chipmunk Christmas"

Carolers took off down the pathway to nearby St. Francis Road, singing in front of darkened houses that magically lighted up after the first few not-so-dulcet bars of music. Nothing that a spirited round of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" can't overcome.
