Los Altos Senior Community Hosts Health & Fitness Day

BridgePoint at Los Altos invites the public to the free wellness event on May 28.

In celebration of National Senior Health and Fitness Day, Kisco Senior Living’s BridgePoint at Los Altos invites the public to a free wellness event on Wednesday, May 28.

Join the community’s physical therapy team at 2 p.m. as they introduce an innovative program -- Stand Strong --  that aids independent and assisted-living residents in maintaining and regaining their mobility.

Stand Strong is a multidimensional approach to balance-related issues -- employing a series of seven tests to measure how a resident can perform ordinary, everyday activities.

The program increases a resident’s activity level and reduces the fear of falling.

“Our wellness initiatives nurture the body, mind and spirit," Kisco National Wellness Director Maria Connelly said. "Stand Strong encompasses this philosophy by arming our residents, no matter their stage in life, with the confidence to enjoy every day.”

Also on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m., BLA will host a seminar on stroke awareness lead by BLA resident and stroke survivor, Allan Newlands.

The entire day will offer activities designed to engage Kisco’s whole human health way of life.

BridgePoint at Los Altos is located at 1174 Los Altos Ave.
