Los Altos drivers should expect some traffic delays Thursday in the area of Covington Road and South El Monte Avenue while a repair is made to a malfunctioning traffic loop.
The City of Los Altos identified the defective loop - a device that detects vehicles to better control traffic light timing - at Covington and S. El Monte for causing problems with coordinating this intersection's traffic lights with others in the surrounding area, causing traffic delays during peak commute hours.
The City plans to replace the loop Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
