Grab & Go Kids Planner: College Thinking on the Horizon

Two pre-college events for high school students, a play, a visit to a hometown museum and exercising with your baby are our suggestions in this week's Los Altos Kids Planner.

Where/When:  , 1305 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, (Lucie Stern Community Center, Fireside Room) Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: If you are the parent of a high school student with college on the horizon in the next year or so, this session on the college application process could be very helpful to you and your teenager. Get some insights into what you as the parent, and your child as the applicant need to know about the process

Where/When:  , 12345 S El Monte Rd, Los Altos Hills, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Why Go: This event is for high school seniors who are thinking about classes at Foothill starting in summer or fall of 2011.  This is a one-day conference that will give some insights about student life and students classes at Foothill.  There is a
 complimentary lunch, raffle prizes,  and guest speakers as well. Students will also get to meet the faculty.

Pricing:  Free

Where/When: Los Altos - Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, Cristo Rey Drive & Foothill, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 a.m.

Why Go:  A good way to work out with your baby in tow and to meet other parents with a similar interest in getting a work out for themselves and baby. (Or at least fresh air for baby).

Pricing: First class is free, followed with a pricing package depending on the number of classes.

Where/When: , 51 S San Antonio Rd. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Maybe it's time for a little family outing close to home again. And what better than the outdoor agricultural exhibit at the History Museum? Even if you think you know about the orchard history of Los Altos, you'll be surprised how the grounds capture a time not so long ago here— the gardens and apricot orchard, the refurbished 1915 tank house, antique farm equipment and tools for cutting, sulfuring and drying apricots.

Where/When:  , 500 Castro St. Friday, 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.l Saturday, 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Why Go: Great way to introduce your child to the world of theater, with these abridged versions of entertaining plays. And the Owl and the Pussycat is a favorite that everyone can enjoy.
