Easter Egg Hunts in Los Altos and Beyond

Get your colorful baskets out, because it's that time again.

Easter egg hunts are scheduled throughout this upcoming weekend in Campbell and in the South Bay. We've compiled a list of hunts to make things just a little easier on all our parents out there.

SATURDAY, MARCH 30

Egg Hunt and Launch 2013 9:30 a.m.

The Los Altos Recreation Department holds its Egg Hunt (10 year old and under) and Launch (teens 11-17) on Saturday, March 30. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with visits from Mr. Bun E. Rabbit. Egg hunt begins at 10 a.m. sharp. Popular children's entertainer Oklin Bloodworth performs at the Los Altos Library Sing-a-long at 10:15 a.m. The Egg Launch for teens begins at 10:45 a.m. and all eggs are supplied by the recreation department. It requires team registration by Wednesday but there is no registration for spectators to watch teams deploy their egg-launch contraptions.

10:30 a.m.

This free annual event at the Campbell Community Center offers up to 11,000 eggs to the fastest collectors out there. Each section is roped off so that children hunt within their age group (ages 2-12 can participate) and parents watch from the sidelines. Festivities also include:

• face painting
• nail painting
• crazy hair painting
• baton dance demonstrations from Valley Baton Club
• craft project with Home Depot
• Five jump houses
• DJ Stephen "Stevarino" Armbruster
• Pictures with the Eggstravaganza Bunny.

Coffee, water, coffeecake and donuts are available for purchase. Donations are encouraged.

Mountain View Farmers Market Egg Hunt, 10 a.m.

Get thee to the Mountain View Caltrain station, where your inquisitive kids will find coupons for "fresh produce prizes" among the farmers' stalls. We hope some of those coupons are in eggs!

Los Gatos Hippity Hop 'Till You Drop Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m.

Los Gatos Vice Mayor Steven Leonardis and several churches and businesses in Los Gatos reinvent the now-cancelled Bunny Fun Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30 on the front lawn of Los Gatos High School, on East Main Street, across Town Hall. Two age groups will participate, with the younger children, ages 2-6, beginning at 10 a.m.; and older children, ages 7-10 at 10:30 a.m.

Saratoga's IOOF Fifth Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Wildwood Park, 10 a.m.

Considered one of the biggest Easter egg hunts in Saratoga drawing 70 participants last year, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is hosting another egg hunt at Wildwood Park, 20764 4th St., 10 a.m. Saturday. Festivities will include a three-legged race, a hula-hoop contest and a limbo dance, with face painters and balloon twisters, according to IOOF clerk and event coordinator, Daniel Honniball. The egg hunt begins at 11 a.m.

Saratoga's Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church Easter Egg Hunt, Crestbrook Field, 10 a.m. to noon

Located in Crestbrook Field, Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, 13601 Saratoga Ave., is hosting an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Festivities include an egg toss with hard boiled eggs and coloring eggs to correspond to the colors of the Easter story, according to Samantha Menges, the director of children’s ministries. Each child will be able to take home seven colored eggs that tell the Easter story, she wrote in an email. Children ages 8 and older can participate in a peep stuffing contest, where the goal is to see which child can fit the most peeps in their mouth.

Gamble Garden Easter Egg Hunt and Puppet Show, 9:30 a.m.

In Palo Alto, the Gamble Garden is holding an Easter party and puppet show of "Grandpa Bunny's Egg-citing Day." The festivities will be followed by an egg hunt in the garden. Members: $20 for children and $10 for adults. Non-members: $25 for children and $15 for adults.

Community Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m.

This free event takes place, rain or shine, on the meadow in front of the Discovery Museum in San Jose, on the corner of W. San Carlos Street and Woz Way in San Jose. Children of all ages and abilities are invited.

Easter Egg Party and Hunt, 1 p.m.

This free egg hunt takes place at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Los Altos. Children pre-K through fifth grade are invited to participate. Games, crafts and music will also be offered.

Eggstraordinary Egg Hunt, 11 a.m.

Easter egg hunt in a redwood forest steam train; what's not to love? This event takes place at Roaring Camp Railroad in Felton 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. and kids search for chocolate candy eggs. $26 for adults, $19 for children.

SUNDAY, MARCH 31

Egg Hunt at Campbell United Methodist Church, 10 a.m.

This hunt takes place at the Campbell United Methodist Church right after the 9 a.m. service, on the front lawn for children preschool through fifth grade.

Children's Egg Hunt, 11:15 a.m.

 Los Altos Lutheran Church hosts an egg hunt following the 9 a.m. breakfast and the 10 a.m. Festival Service of Easter Day. 460 S El Monte Ave Los Altos, CA 94022 

Saratoga's Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards Third Annual Easter Egg Hunt, 1 p.m.

A fun event for adults and children, Savannah-Chanelle, 23600 Big Basin Way, hosts its third annual egg hunt at its vineyards this Easter Sunday.
