62 Couples Tie the Knot in 12-12-12 Mass Ceremony

Wednesday was a special day for 62 couples in Santa Clara County.

Driven by the mystique that surrounded the date of December 12, 2012, or 12-12-12, 124 men and women found themselves man and wife shortly before 5:00 p.m.

The 4:30 p.m. ceremony, held in the County Supervisor's Chambers on West Hedding Street in San Jose, was officiated by Santa Clara County Deputy Commissioner of Marriage Ben Miyaji, and went off without a hitch.

"Not this big," said Miyaji. "I've done 29 (couples) on Valentine's Day, but not this big. It's special. It's the last such date of the century."
