THE CITY OF LOS ALTOS ROLLS OUT THE STATE STREET GREEN

Los Altos, Calif. – July 5, 2013 – The City of Los Altos is excited to introduce a temporary park space in Downtown Los Altos – the State Street Green.

Beginning Thursday, July 18, State Street between First and Second Streets will be covered in green synthetic turf and lined with colorful furniture.  The pop-up park will be ready for visitors on Friday, July 19 and is intended to provide a temporary social gathering area while the block is closed as part of the City’s First Street Streetscape project.

Due to intersection improvements and construction at First and State Streets, the block of State Street will be closed to vehicular traffic in order to prevent cars from entering the street without a safe route to exit.  The street closure will take place beginning Monday, July 15 following the Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival and is expected to last four to six weeks.
