Why Go: Over 300 fine artists and crafters will invade Palo Alto, displaying work you'll only see at a few select locations on the West Coast. Soak up some summer sun, the Italian Street Painting Expo, the Kids' Art Studio and more this weekend at the 12th annual festival in neighboring Palo Alto.

Shoreline Lake Sale of Cool Stuff
Where/When: 3160 N Shoreline Blvd, Mountain View, CA, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why Go: You won't find a better place to snatch up a new toy to use for the rapidly approaching Labor Day weekend. Browse through the hearty selection of water sports items, including kayaks, sailboats, rowboats, windsurfers, the occasional pedalboat and more! The event has been a local rite of passage for the past decade.

Why Go: It's a new time, but still the same engaging and enlightening hour with a reowned artist. Martha Castillo is currently exhibiting at Little House and will share her approach to art-making and the development of a piece of art.

Where/When: Los Altos Library, 13 S. San Antonio Rd., Los Altos. Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: Docent Kay Payne will walk guests through Dutch and Flemish paintings from the Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo collections at the Palace of the Legion of Honor. Payne has been a docent and lecturer for the Fine Art Museums of San Francisco since 1981. She also coordinates the Community Speakers Program for the Docent Council of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Check out the unique art and take in the lecture from an expect during this weeknight gathering.
