Families bonded over squirted pink frosting, berries and sugar sprinkles piled high.

Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about celebrating romantic love that you have with a significant other. (Though, theres's nothing wrong if you do.)

It can be about celebrating love, pure and simple. Love for your family, friends, and don't forget about love for yourself.

To celebrate this Valentine's Day, Whole Foods Los Altos hosted a family-oriented holiday event.

The afternoon before, the store held a hour-long "Kids Valentine Cookie Decorating" event.

Children and adults joined the Whole Foods team in decorating heart-shaped sugar cookies with frosting, sprinkles, and also some healthy (but yummy!) alternatives such as blueberries and raspberries.

Though the kids were hesitant at first, they eased right into the decorating with a little help from their parents.

One shy little boy finally got into it after Grandma made him laugh with a blueberry smiley face on his cookie.

The little girl next to him grinned ear to ear as she squirt pink frosting all over her cookie (and the table).

"Want to put some raspberries on top?" her mother asked her.

"No. I just want lots of sugar!" the little girl said as she poured on a mound of hot pink sprinkles.

After all, it wasn't just about the decorating. It was about spending time together with someone we love, and someone who loves us too.

Whether husband, father, grandma, daughter, or whomever you love, you can celebrate it in a way that is special to you—whether that be dinner and a movie, or decorating cookies together at your local grocery store.
