UPDATE: Pedestrian Is Identified Who Was Fatally Struck By Car At Arco

The 81-year-old woman, who was hit on North San Antonio Road, may not have been on the sidewalk, police said.

 

The county medical examiner has identified a Los Altos resident who was fatally struck by a car Thursday morning as Soraya Imam, 81. 

Imam was apparently walking up the west side of San Antonio Road toward El Camino Real when she was hit by a car leaving the Arco gas station at San Antonio Road and Loucks Avenue shortly before 9 a.m.

The 60-year-old driver of the gold 2001 Volkswagen station wagon was not cited, said Los Altos Police Sgt. Paul Arguelles, who is investigating the accident. He said that the vehicle had entered the street, heading southbound on San Antonio Road at the time of the accident. "She doesn't appear to have been on the sidewalk, but we don't know," Arguelles said. 

Imam was taken to Stanford Hospital with severe injuries. She underwent treatment but was pronounced dead later.
