Los Altos Couple Recognized For Philanthropic Work

The pair will be among five recipients of the highest award given by The National Catholic Educational Association.

 

Los Altos residents Charles (Chuck) and Nancy Geschke are being recognized by the National Catholic Educational Association for their philanthropic work and service to promote Catholic education.

The couple is one of five recipients from throughout the nation the organization will honor with its highest award, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, this fall.

A ceremony to present the awards is planned for Oct. 1 at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The Seton Award is named in honor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first native-born American saint.

Through the Charles M. and Nancy A. Geschke Foundation, the Geschkes have provided leadership to the Catholic Foundation of Santa Clara County, University of San Francisco, Xavier University of Cincinnati, Marygrove College in Detroit, and other organizations.

The Geschkes’ support through an Endowed Faculty Fund has helped advance education at the University of San Francisco through construction of the Geschke Learning Resource Center. Charles Geschke is also the inaugural holder of the Rossi Entrepreneurial Chair at the university.

Charles Geschke, is a graduate of Xavier University, and began his professional career teaching at John Carroll University. In 1982 he co-founded Adobe Systems with John Warnock and helped to build the company into one of the world’s largest software companies. He is now a co-chairman of Adobe’s board of directors. He also serves on the boards of several educational institutions, arts, and non-profit organizations.

Nancy Geschke is an alumna of Marygrove College in Detroit where she was instrumental in creating the college’s Nancy A. McDonough Geschke Writing Center. Recently she was named to the college’s board of trustees. Other projects she has been involved with include spearheading a capital campaign to revitalize building and operations programs at Nantucket Athenaeum in Nantucket, Mass.
