Two Days, Two Burglary Arrests in South Los Altos
In one case, the suspect was a house cleaner, now suspected of other burglaries. In the second arrest early Thursday morning, a resident called 911 at 3 a.m. reporting a burglary in progress.
In two days, police have arrested two burglary suspects in two separate incidents in south Los Altos, the latest in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
In that arrest, a resident called 911 at approximately 3:10 a.m. from the 1400 block of Brookmill Road, reporting an interrupted residential burglary.
Los Altos, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale officers responded to the neighborhood, not far from Mountain View High School. Los Altos officers used a canine unit to search for the suspect, who was quickly found hiding in shrubbery less than 40 yards from the house, at approximately 3:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Scott McCrossin.
The suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Jesse Steele Mitchell of Los Altos, was arrested without incident. Police found stolen property from the Brookmill Road address, as well as another home in the 2000 block of El Sereno Avenue, in Mitchell's vehicle. Police also found an unloaded revolver and marijuana, according to McCrossin.
Mitchell was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail on 2 felony counts of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
He is currently being held without bail. Criminal arrests and charges do not signify a conviction.
Police asking for any information from the public about a second burglary arrest made Wednesday. Detectives conducting a burglary investigation identified Jonathan Norberto Perez, a house cleaner, as the sole suspect in a possible string burglaries.
Los Altos Police officers arrested the 32-year-old San Jose man on one felony count of residential burglary that day. Perez is suspected of stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry from a home on the 500 block of Arboleda Drive while he was working at the residence.
Perez was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail on charges of burglary and driving with a suspended driver license. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
In addition to the Los Altos residence, Perez is believed to have serviced homes in Saratoga, San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Santa Cruz. Los Altos Police detectives are working with neighboring agencies to identify other potential victims.

I am a Brookmill resident.
Our neighbor is the very same people who were ripped off by this foolish individual.
The person photographed in this arrest picture, was the very same sole who at around 6:00 PM knocked on our front door, several nights before his arrest.
I waved him off without saying a word.
Not only was his visit an annoyance but at the time I though a bit odd.
In hind sight it is clear his solicitation calling was not to inform, sell, solicit or greet but rather to "scope" out our home.
Perhaps it was my Airedale's growling and my Labradors barking which provided him with the information he needed in the planning of his late night / early morning "cat" burglary escapade through our neighbors home because instead of our home he choose our neighbor's
Kudos to the Los Altos police department for the rapid response but as importantly in the apprehension of the perpetrator.

For those of you who leave your doors to your garages unlocked, please consider that people often do try these doors and come in that way. Among the things allegedly found are in the suspects car were the first items removed from the garage, police told me. The suspect was allegedly coming into the house from the garage, presumably to continue taking items.
